SECOND SUMMIT OUTDOOR THRIFT
Located at Basecamp, 101 N. Main Street, Mayodan

Second Summit is a small outdoor gear thrift inside Basecamp in Mayodan. We’re building it from donated gear that still has plenty of life left in it, including backpacks, jackets, tents, and other essentials.

Everything is priced low, and 100% of profits go directly to local teachers to help cover the cost of outdoor field trips for their students.

How to donate gently used gear
Drop gear off at Basecamp in Mayodan during business hours, or email jenny@theresilienttrailsnetwork.org to arrange pickup.

What we can take
We’re looking for durable, trail-ready clothing, footwear, and gear. Brands like Keen, Columbia, Patagonia, and REI are great examples.

Examples of items we can use include tents, camp or stadium chairs, insulated water bottles, lamps, camp cooking gear, trekking poles, sunglasses, sun-protective clothing, trail dog gear, unopened MREs, backpacks, and daypacks.

We are not accepting fast fashion or low-quality items. If it wouldn’t hold up on a trail, it’s probably not a good fit here. We also cannot accept any time of fuel or batteries.

How teachers can access funds
Teachers can complete a simple funding request. Requests are reviewed by RTN and the Basecamp board of directors. Funds are approved within 7 days Checks are made payable to the school and restricted for outdoor field trips. Unused funds must be returned to Basecamp within 30 days. Funds are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be rolled over to subsequent school years.
